A masterpiece!

NOT! I guess one of the girls' bags had a small package of crayons, that somehow evaded my radar. I mean really, they must have stowed away in that bag after I checked the load for objectionable items. I've been washing kids clothing for 10 years now, and doing laundry many year before that. This IS a first. I'm not thrilled with it but surprised I went this long w/o coloring the inside of the dryer. I would show a pic but I need to charge the battery. I took it out last night to take a few pics of a small frog on our front porch.

Jason got home, safely, yesterday afternoon. It's good to have him home again. Even though he was gone just over a week, it felt like he was away for a good month.

At any rate, so I could catch a break from housework, etc. - I went out to see The Dark Knight. Which, by the way, was phenomenal! It's sad that Ledger is no longer with us to celebrate his work, but he did an amazing job performing as the Joker! Overall the movie was great, had a solid story and I had a pleasant 2 1/2 hours all to myself.

So back to the dryer. I opened the door to take the dried load out and move the washed load in. My first gut feeling that something was really unusual, was as I opened the door and noticed that the dryer sheet technicolored. Then I look into the drier and see that everything else inside had been colored similarly. Now, I'm definitely one to appreciate art and even some element of art myself. However, there is a time and place for everything. Plus, I wasn't trying to be artistic. The drier had other plans, apparently.

So, with a horrific feeling (probably accompanied with a horrific look on my face), I began to pull the various items out to inspect them. They all were ruined. I mean really ruined. I was bit bummed that Autumn's sling bag was ruined. I hope I can replace it.

I get rid of all the damaged items and do some research on how to get crayon stains out of a dryer. All I'm going to say is WD-40 does not necessarily work on removing the staining, despite the fact I used as recommended by several, normally helpful sites. So I abandoned moving on further with that option, and resorted to a nice non-abrasive scrub sponge with a little dish soap and water. That did a better job, but still it's not good enough. The sponge method worked nicely at getting those caked on bits off and out. The drum is still badly stained though. Right now I cannot safely or comfortably dry anything in it. First, I'm letting it completely dry out and air out before I attempt to possibly trying using it again.

At this moment, while the dryer hangs out, I have 2 drying racks set up with the washer load strewn all over them. It makes for a cheaper way to dry clothes. I wonder how much this will impact our electric bill. For the larger items, like the linens. I may very well take them to the base laundry mat. To as least dry.

Oh and now that Samantha is better *knock on wood*. She had a fever for a couple days, then it vanished. Now the older 2 are sick. This must be a Murphey's Law kind of day.

Well, I'm wiped out. So I'm going to get to bed earlier for a change. Sweet dreams!
